Tapping to pay uses secure, short-range wireless technology to safely complete your transaction. Simply hold your contactless card or enabled device near the checkout terminal displaying the Contactless Symbol, and your payment details are transmitted instantly for authorization. It’s fast, safe, and touch-free.

What does (contactless symbol) mean?
Contactless Indicator – When this symbol appears on your card, it means your card is equipped for tap-to-pay. When you see it on a checkout terminal or store signage, it shows that the merchant accepts contactless payments.
Contactless Symbol – This symbol tells you exactly where to tap your contactless card, mobile device, or wearable on the terminal to complete your payment.

How close does my contactless card need to be to the contactless checkout terminal?
Your contactless card or payment-enabled device only needs to be held 1–2 inches from the Contactless Symbol on the terminal to complete your payment—no swiping, inserting, or extra steps required.

Are contactless cards secure?
Your contactless card is backed by the same trusted security as a chip card. Each time you tap to pay, a unique one-time code is generated, protecting your payment information and making it highly effective in reducing fraud.
For extra peace of mind, your card must be held within 2 inches of the terminal for a transaction to occur—so you can’t accidentally make a payment. Plus, tapping to pay helps you avoid unnecessary contact with surfaces, giving you a safer, more hygienic way to checkout.
